What We’re Looking For:

The purpose of the Manager, Design is to oversee and guide the creative execution of content plans, innovative B2B and B2C experiences that include but are not limited to the website, product and 2U, Inc’s. growing technologies. The work will be conceptualised and executed in collaboration with CS Marketing teams, specialists and marketing and brand stakeholders to grow consumer engagement, boost student registrations and assist with reducing reliance on paid media. The Manager, Content Design needs to have experience in delivering excellent work and an extensive understanding and implementation of best practise of design principles and creative executions across a variety of mediums and platforms. They should also have a strong understanding of:

  • Digital marketing techniques and how they can be applied in design solutions
  • Delivering small and large scale projects, independently guiding internal teams and external design and production agencies
  • Design and technology trends
  • Consumer insights and how to apply these to the design of campaign assets

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

Conceptual (quality of problem-solving and brainstorming ability)

  • Proactively engage with complex ideation and conceptualise new innovative and functional design solutions in support of provided content plans and marketing strategies
  • Guide and support junior, mid and senior designers in conceptualisation and execution of visual collateral that supports content and product marketing
  • Collaborate with other departments and CS Marketing team to understand project needs and ensure collateral is delivered within stipulated timelines and adheres to design best practice.
  • Engage in team training where needed to further personal & departmental development

Communication (quality of written & verbal communication and relationships)

  • Establish and foster excellent interpersonal relationships with team and stakeholders
  • Provide feedback and guidance in a clear and respectful way to peers, junior, mid and senior members of the team
  • Effective, clear and professional communication of concepts, ideas, training and processes internally and externally

Initiative (quality of proactive ideas and innovations)

  • Proactively iterate designs and solutions based on marketing performance data and feedback
  • Take strong ownership of broader brand related proactive innovation and problem-solving
  • Assist with innovation in strategies and principles for design that drive the team forward within the department
  • Guide and encourage initiative and proactivity in the team

Leadership (level of training, mentoring, managing and upskilling)

  • Inspiring the team to advance in skills by staying informed of industry trends and sharing
  • Improve and build on own skills gaps
  • Guidance, coaching and mentorship in all areas of work for juniors, mid and seniors
  • Managing team members’ performance, development and workload in a constructive, supportive manner
  • Assisting with recruiting top tier candidates and onboarding of new hires
  • Assist in defining and achieving annual and quarterly priorities for the team

Quality (level of design output and level of reviewing required to obtain desired output)

  • Produce and drive the creative output to an industry-leading standard
  • Assist in refining the QA process and implement measurement tools (e.g. rubrics) if necessary to result in optimal, error-free output
  • Responsible for the final sign-off of creative work produced by the design team

Things That Should Be In Your Background:

  • 7+ years of work experience
  • 2+ years people management experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Design Diploma/Degree)

Other Attributes That Will Help You In This Role:

  • Strong design and conceptual skills using the Adobe CC suite
  • Content creation and digital marketing experience is essential
  • An understanding of UI/HTML
