To comprehend the gender discrepancies in Somaliland, Himma Consultancy is looking for a Gender Expert to undertake a National Gender and Energy Assessment. The National Gender Assessment will provide an in-depth analysis of the preliminary assessed components, socioeconomic positioning of women, assigned gender roles, sector participation rates, inheritance laws, decision-making roles, challenges faced by households headed by women, skill enhancement opportunities, and safety of vulnerable women; and how the aforementioned affects access to clean energy and meaningful participation of women in the energy sector.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the gender inclusion and integration of sector institutions at both the organizational and activity levels and the process of equality, inclusion, and opportunity for women represented in sector knowledge organizations.
- Conduct desk reviews of the Gender Policy of Somaliland.
- Analysis of gender inclusion indicators in donor-implemented initiatives in Somaliland and further project cycle details.
Qualifications
Academic Qualifications/Education:
· MA degree in gender, social, legal, economic, and psychology sciences.
Experience:
· At least seven years of experience working on gender equality, particularly in the development of gender analysis, gender research, and assessments. Experience in gender equality certification systems would be an asset
· At least 5 years experience in designing and facilitating capacity-building activities on gender equality.
· At least 3 years experience working in public administration/governance-related areas or institutions. Experience in gender mainstreaming in public administration would be an asset.
Languages Requirements:
- Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in English
- Excellent methodological and participatory planning skills
