About the role:

A need has arisen for an Information Security Manager, to be responsible for designing and implementing frameworks and processes for proactively managing our developing security risk exposure. The primary responsibility will focus on Information Security, but the role will also be responsible for managing wider security risks which we face.

Given the rapid pace of growth the business has been through, the Information Security Manager will be a key driver of the design, delivery and implementation of information and data security strategies.

The successful applicant will provide objective assurance as to the adequacy and effectiveness of our security risk management, control, and governance processes by contributing to the delivery of a professional risk-based approach. They will need to coach and develop our people throughout the business, highlighting best practise.

The successful applicant will have very good knowledge of the digital security landscape coupled with demonstrable hands-on experience, but as important will be their ability to understand the wider business objectives, their ability to influence change at a senior level and embed practical security awareness throughout a developing and growing business.

This will be a challenging but rewarding role that provides a great opportunity for a driven individual to influence and drive the security agenda within an exciting and ever-growing technology business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Identifying and assessing key security risks, whilst designing and implementing remedial actions for:
  • Cloud based infrastructure and applications (GCP experience would be ideal)
  • Network intrusion detection and prevention
  • Vulnerability management
  • Email and data security
  • Mobile device security; and
  • Data breach and incident management
  • Ensuring IT security risks, threats and vulnerabilities are effectively managed and aligned to the changing needs of the business.
  • Design and implement technical security controls
  • Developing, managing, and maintaining the Digital Business Continuity programme
  • Assess and mitigate risks across a technically complex supply chain.
  • Implement plans to mitigate security impacts to our people, assets, business operations and company reputation
  • Horizon scanning of emerging security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Develop and implement a security strategy and policy
  • Working throughout the business to develop security awareness, whilst providing practical tools and coaching to ensure adoption of best practise.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • CISSP, CISM or similar qualification
  • Experienced in implementing, or working within a standards-based environment such as ISO 27001
  • An understanding of the tools and technologies available to protect and monitor IS
  • A minimum of 3 years Information Security experience
  • Kubernetes and Container Security
  • Access control and asset protection
  • Experience of PCI DSS
  • Emergency planning and crisis management, such as working under formalised Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery frameworks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, being able to confidently advise senior stakeholders
  • Experience of working within a regulated industry

  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act and the GDPR
