Job summary

Lead and manage a team of Territory Managers to oversee and provide business advisory support to retail stations/ retailers in a sales area. Manages P&L for the Retail channel and is directly responsible for associated operating expenses, capex budgeting and cost management. Responsible for volume and net operating income (NOI) target performance and ensures that all customers are operating at maximum profitability. This role focuses the organization on achieving business financial targets through an agreed set of strategic and tactical plans. Plays a vital role in working with Regional Marketing Support teams and forums to develop targeted aggressive growth initiatives for the retail business. Ensures consistent and disciplined execution of processes/procedures/programs/systems geared towards achieving business plan commitments.

Job Description

Leadership and Operational responsibility may include but are not limited to:

•Responsible for leading and managing Sales Team comprising of Territory Managers to deliver business performance by overseeing and providing business advisory support to retail stations/ retailers for the Sales area. Key Performance Indicators include Financial, Safety, Operational – Customer Service (Customer First Scores), Customer Satisfaction, Image Stewardship, etc.

•Responsible for leading the team in the implementation of initiatives aimed at growing the profitability of the enterprise

•Responsible for inculcating the culture of operational excellence, team work and collaboration to ensure that targets are met and exceeded.

•Lead the team to participate in Collaborative processes i.e. business planning, demand forecasting, new business acquisition, convenience retailing partners, credit management, etc.

P&L and Financial responsibility

•Single Point of Accountability for the performance and profitability of the Sales area

•Responsible for delivering and achieving sales KPI including non fuel revenue

•Identify Gross Margin improvement opportunities, identification and implementation of cost efficiencies for the Sales area

Organizational Capability

•Capability to build a strong Sales team

•Development of organizational capability and capacity

•Role model new leadership behaviours

•Development and implementation of area tactical plans

Operational Excellence and Execution Discipline

•Implements and monitors Astron Energy OE, Safety Standards and Programs in the sales area (staff and customers)

•Actively participates in all Audits for the sales area and responsible for ensuring that all Audit findings are attended to and identified gaps are closed within the prescribed timeline.

Qualifications

•Successful candidate should have a Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Marketing or equivalent

•At least 5 years of solid sales/ marketing experience and at least 5 years of supervisory experience

•Extensive experience in managing sales groups/ teams

•A clear understanding of marketing operations within South Africa and is able to develop relationships with stakeholders i.e. customers, retailers, partners, service providers, etc.

•Knowledge and experience of both fuel and non-fuel retailing as well as OEHES requirements at retail sites
